Romuald Hazoume

I’ve just heard that the Nigerian artist Romuald Hazoume will be able to be with us to talk about his work on 4 December for the day of exhibition related events, Saturday Supplement. Hazoume’s impressive panoramic photograph And From There They Leave will be part of the exhibition in September. An idyllic looking place, La Bouche du Roi is actually where thousands of slaves were shipped to the Americas. This photograph will be placed alongside two eighteenth century panoramic drawings of the Leeward Isles by Thomas Hearne. Commissioned by the British Governor of the islands, they clearly show plantations and the slaves who worked there.
